If you are planning for a hiking trip, TrailRunner can help you prepare your route in an efficient manner. The application allows you to plan your route on a map and send the data to an iPhone or to a GPS device, so you will know where you need to go. It is suitable for any kind of long distance sports, including running, hiking, biking and others. What's more, the application gives you the possibility of sharing your routes with an online community.

You can view your activities, routes and a track network on a single user interface, on separate tabs. You can find a map in the largest area of the interface, in each of these sections. Options for creating and editing routes, playing back courses or viewing them on Google Earth can be found beneath the maps. You can also find options for specifying various details, like mood, weather, temperature and so on, in a column, on the left side of the interface.

As previously mentioned, you can transfer routes to and from iPhones or GPS devices. This means that you may create a new route, with waypoints and other elements and send them to your phone, so you will know where you need to go at all times. Additionally, the application allows you to keep a diary and an exercise plan.

The possibility of interacting with an online community is another key feature of TrailRunner. The application allows you to access routes made by other people, from GPSies, EveryTrail and from Mytrails. Of course, you can also upload your own routes, to the same services, if you wish to contribute and help out the community.
